Message  from  President

Dear Colleagues

In the rapidly changing social environment of the international community, Japan, as one of the leading economic powers, is increasingly called upon to cooperate with developing countries,
in particular,with those in Asia, by such contributions as technology transfers.
Intellectual creativity is seen as one of Japan’s greatest resources. Threfore　it is very essential for japan to continue to make new, original, scientific and technological advancements and to accomplish further innovative development.

It goes without saying that continued promotion of basic science and technology is needed, but now more than ever before, the support and development of new fields in engineering should be sensitive to the social environment upon which they will ultimately exert an impact. The technological breakthroughs required in the future will increasingly depend on an integrated  approach that systematically and effectively combines science and engineering with not only medicine and agriculture but also the social science  and  liberal  arts,  such  as  law , economics and history.  FIST, Foundation for Interaction in Science and Technology was established in japan according to this view, and aims to promote interaction between various researches, scholars, policy planners of public agencies, and people from a wide range of industries, FIST supports the development of science and technology  based on such an integrated approach.

FIST will accelerate various lectures and symposiums, and will provide financial support for leading research in science and technology. FIST will promote international academic exchange through international symposiums and will conduct activities to promote the development of human resources in developing countries.

FIST will continue its efforts toward the vital and sustainable development of Japanese society.
